Rupinder Grewal
Rupinder has served as MIT’s (first) COI officer for over 5 years. Prior to that role, Rupinder spent 5 years in MIT’s Technology Licensing Office working on MTA’s, tangible property licensing and multi-party research collaboration agreements. Prior to joining MIT, she spent over 10 years in research management roles in both academia and industry with a focus on the development and implementation of high-throughput genomic platforms, tissue based research collaborations and molecular pathology processes for gene expression profiling which led to an NIST-approved method for submitting gene expression data to support IND filings. In her current role, her responsibilities include the day-to day management of MIT’s COI disclosure, review and management process; advises department heads, deans and other senior administrators on COI policy interpretations; provides extensive faculty outreach on the topic; works closely with the technology licensing office to improve IP policies and process which impact COI; designs new tools to facilitate information gathering while reducing administrative burden and speaks at national conferences on COI.
