John Dement

John Dement is the Chairman of the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC). From 2007 to 2014, he was Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center’s (NSWC Crane) Technology Transfer (T2) director where he negotiated over 140 licenses and collaborative partnership agreements. He then was loaned to the State of Indiana under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) in 2015 and 2016 to help establish a statewide T2 and commercialization model and capability leveraging of federally funded innovations and assets. Today, he continues in advancing his lab’s engagement in the innovation ecosystem inside and outside of NSWC Crane.

During his career, the lab and its partners have won 22 T2 awards, including the FLC 2012 Service Representative of the Year and the DoD’s 2012 George Linsteadt Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer.

Mr. Dement has a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Evansville and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Indiana University. He is also a DAWIA-certified Level III in Systems, Planning, Research and Development, and Level III in Science and Technology.
